Week Four, From Lonesome to Laughter...
Variety’s the name of this game!!
The night kicked off with two spots filled by lottery at 7:15 pm. Another near capacity audience was entertained with humour, passion and a demonstration of what songwriting is all about. One contestant in Alberta tartan kilt had the audience roaring with his song "I just don't look good naked anymore". His Seeing Eye dog even joined with him as a duet on his third song. Another contestant talked about the healing power of music and another sang his original gospel songs. One act travelled all the way from Northern Alberta. The participation of contestants from throughout the province has added to the quality of each week’s show. Winning the hearts of judges Noel Snow, Dan Tapanila, Dwight Ryder, and audience members alike, was local writer Eddie Joe, who received the night's highest score. He joined with Runners-up Johnny Meehan, and Roger Woodgate to share in the evening's bevy of prizes from the Ironwood Stage and Grill, Axe Music, Canada Disc and Tape, and Snow Publishing. As always, each of the top three contestants also received beautiful Songwriters’ Mic’05 micro-fleece vests courtesy of Imagewear by Mark’s Work Wearhouse. Contest night networking opportunities continue to grow for all songwriters. Together with sponsors, industry professionals, media and a few “alumni”, writers of all genres continue to prove that variety is indeed, the spice of life!
