For Music To Live Here, It Must Be Nurtured

For music to live anywhere it first must be born. Often the conception is an idea scribbled on a receipt or a restaurant serviette, under a tree, while driving or in the middle of a romantic moment.

For music to grow it must be nurtured in an environment that supports those who are the conduit, for the witty, poignant, humourous, spiritual, political or simply entertaining lyric and tune – the Songwriter.

Calgary is gifted with Songwriters. They have joined in a community at www.calgarysongwriter.com and are presenting a concert as a wind-up for the Music Lives Here series initiated by Calgary Arts Development. The Calgary Central Library, a committed patron of local arts, has allied with these songwriters to present this concert at the John Dutton Theatre,
W.B. Castell Central Library on Saturday, March 29 from 11 am to 6 pm.

Hear the legends and travels of ‘Sad-Sorry Ass Folksinger’ Cort Delano, loss and redemption of Hardwire Speers, the social wit of ‘klezmaniac’ Fluffy the Pitbull, award winning songwriter Danielle French, Phyllis Wheaton’s messages of hope, the Gospel sound of Mike R. Schuster, Alex Boisselle’s World Music, multi-instrumentalist, Jessica Erlendson and the ‘gravel of real life’ through the eyes and tunes of Chris Naish who also hosts this event.

Be there to hear music born and nurture this growing community. Be a patron of local artists too, and make a purchase from the CD table set up at this event to promote their work.
