Each of my songs has a story, but there is one small tidbit, that always stands out for me. The track "Living in Fear" is about the things people fear every day.

Small things to large things, most different for each person. We have to suppress our fears to continue to function in our world.

There is a line in this song that goes "A frenzied crowd cheers" A crowd cheering would seem harmless enough to most of us. What the line is in reference to, is somewhat chilling.

Disaster survivors (like people who have survived a shipwreck, or a building collapse etc) say that the screams heard from a crowd of people, when they die, is very disturbing. It haunts the survivors of the event for the rest of their lives. Some of them say, that the sound of crowd cheering, like when a home run is hit at a baseball game, reminds them of the sound.
At home, I usually listen to old classic rock. I don't feel any of it in my music, but I can relate to it.

The world around us, is my greatest inspiration. Historic events are a big influence. My family would have to be right up there too.

One highlight in my songwriting? I had an opportunity to have songwriter Craig Northey review my CD.

It was nerve racking of course, but a positive, and informative experience. To me, any chance I have to get more people to hear my music, is a highlight.

If there is something I could pass on to other songwriters about the songwriting experience, it would be that I have always felt that a song is a story, and the performer is a story teller. You need to perform a song with the passion and feeling it is meant to represent. Perfect on the pitches, is second. We see it in artists like Neil Young.

And don't be discouraged by contests, etc. A song is much more than a one night performance in a smoky bar, or a quick listen from a director at a radio station.

My goals are to get my new CD going. I have the songs written. Just need to round up the money, and get into the studio. I think it will be a positive evolution from the material on "Smoking Beaver"

The best way to get my CD is to go to my website and e-mail me
