*Who or what has influenced your writing significantly?*
Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, the Ramones, Joe Strummer and Shane MacGowan.
*What highlight in your songwriting/performing could you share with us?*
One highlight was when after I performed for a audience of 75 high school and college aged folks, they called me back for two encores, I was so pumped! Another sweet thing that happened to me was being played on the Fuel 90.3, my radio debut!
*What have you learned that you could pass on about performing
experience?*
When performing, ignore the hecklers and negative people. Focus on the people who are having a good time. Focus on those who like you, and more people will. Perform if you love to, and especially if you need to. Don't be too harsh on yourself, be tough on yourself but don't be anal. Too many times I've come off the stage totally bummed about my performance only to hear from everyone listening that I did great.
*Any tips or advice you could give to songwriters?*
Study every song by all your favourite writers, and combine the parts of all of them that you love and change everything you don't like. Realize the world has too many bad songs, and don't ever be satisfied with a song you don't love.
*What are some upcoming exciting things?*
Well, I just released a Digital Single called "Take This Train" and it's getting some airplay on FUEL 90.3 and on some internet radio stations. I am also super excited to be playing lots at the Oolong Tea House and the House Coffee Sanctuary down in Kensington. My song can be downloaded at http://www.myspace.com/chrisnaish
