“No Ordinary Cowboy Rides to Town“
What is a retired English professor, Order of Canada award winner, and world traveller who has had two audiences with the Dalai Lama, doing riding the range “chanting poetry and rhyme”?
Carrying on his quest of course! Ken Mitchell continues to promote and preserve Canadian culture with his newest theatre production “No Ordinary Cowboy”, and with his new book release, an anthology of Canadian Cowboy Poetry called “Rhyming Wranglers” (Frontenac House, Calgary) including Doris Daley, Corb Lund, Sheri D Wilson, Phyllis Wheaton, Robbie Robertson and many more.
Accompanied by equally talented brother, Slim, and Calgary singer songwriter Phyllis Wheaton, "No Ordinary Cowboy" is on tour across the Prairies this summer. On their way to the Pincher Creek Cowboy Poetry Gathering they will be stopping in Calgary for one show, Thursday, June 14 at Nelsons Bar & Grill Stage, 7:30.
